CBS/MTA Offering Free WiFi in Midtown Manhattan

Great news today on CenterNetworks: CBS Offers Midtown Manhattan Free Wireless Internet Access. CBS, in partnership with the MTA, will offer free, "super-local" ad-supported WiFi in the zone outlined to the right (image credit: CenterNetworks).

This is a great first step to blanketing New York in free WiFi, which I personally think is a long time coming. No word on how the MTA factors into this or if this will cover subway stations/tunnels in this zone (I hope so!).

Morning Headaches

Getting to work today was a pain in the ass. Northbound 6 trains were shut down. Why, you ask? Green goo.

Edit: The story I linked to above has been updated to include the cause of this "green goo."

Environmental officials were called to the scene, and police removed what they thought was the suspicious substance.

Police said later the discovery turned out to be an empty cigar box.
